Make up your make up area!
The makeup area is one small space in every woman’s home that means more than the rest. There are a lot of things in most apartments that we could live without. The makeup and beauty area is not one of those areas.
This area is home to all of your beauty products, tools and mirrors. But it needs to be sleek and efficient, because not all of us live in huge homes with ample space. For example, if you’re renting an apartment in the U.S. in Chicago, where rent prices are extremely high, then you might have less square footage to work with. Likewise, if you’re renting a flat in London, it’s unlikely that you’ll have a ton of space for your makeup area because of the high rental cost.
So, how can you create the most efficient but lovely makeup area in your apartment or flat? Just follow these tips to get started:
- Creative Storage
For storage that is both functional and decorative, you’ll need to think outside of the box. Think about do-it-yourself makeup brush projects. You can use that old candle holder to fit a lot of your brushes in it, can’t you? How about using mason jars as well? You could paint them or decorate to your liking and you’ll immediately have a nice makeup brush holder that doesn’t take up too much space.
So, you don’t have much space to work with, but you want more storage and more space for your makeup area. How about using the walls? Magnet boards are great ways to create a versatile storage station that takes up absolutely no counter space. Hang a magnet board on the wall and get the necessary magnets for the backs of your makeup brush holders and all of your other containers. The pieces will not stick seamlessly onto the wall and give you a new-found area of space. Follow the tips from this awesome DIY makeup storage solution article.
- Use Kitchen Tools
Well, not all of them. The kitchen is a place that is typically unorganized. You’ll often find tons of inexpensive objects that you can use to keep your makeup area in order. For example, grab those ice cube trays that rarely get used and turn them into nail polish bottle holders. You’ll be able to fit a large number of nail polish bottles, and makeup brushes if you wish, into these rarely used ice cube trays. It’s a simple and effective way to get organized in your makeup area for no additional cost.
- Additional Hidden Storage
The ongoing issue — storage. As we mentioned above, storage can be difficult to find throughout your small makeup area. But a great way to keep tools like your hairdryer from becoming an eyesore is to store them in rarely seen areas. For example, if you add a storage caddy to the side of your vanity table where it will be out of sight but easy to access, then you’ll easily be able to store your hair dryer there. This idea also includes a plug mold, so it will be extremely easy to plug in your heat tools and you won’t have to reach under the vanity to access.
All in all, whether your makeup area is your most important area in your apartment or flat; or if it’s rarely used, it can’t hurt to create a more efficient and organized set up. It’s totally doable using small solution at a low cost, and if you’re up for a little bit of do-it-yourself crafting, you’ll see even better results!
